President’s Words
2022 is an extraordinary year for the Moon exploration and Utilization with more than 10 missions to be launched to the Moon. This year will see the first celebration of the International Moon Day and the completion of the Global Expert Group on Sustainable Lunar Activities.
The International Moon Day Group has been launched, a team has been set up, leaded by Dr. Nasr Alsahhaf, and the preparations have begun for the celebration of the first International Moon Day on July 20.
The Architectural Considerations Working Group held a well attended Workshop in early January, reviewing the status of MVA Architecture WG studies, the status of significant government lunar future plans, as well as discussing the status of commercial and academic lunar plans and development and the ongoing Architecture WG case study as a framework.
The Global Expert Group for Sustainable Lunar Activities (GEGSLA) presented their updates at UN-COPUOS Scientific and Technical Subcommittee and Legal Subcommittee.
The Student Corner was launched, in order to welcome young people across the world to interact with the Moon Village Association, and have their questions answered by our experts.
The Cultural Considerations Working Group has held two webinars, The Moon as Muse: Visions for Lunar Artistic Engagement and The Moon as Muse: Visions for Lunar Artistic Engagement.
Institutional members are reporting some of their activities and achievements and we encourage you to get involved.
Lastly, we are proud to announce the 6th Global Moon Village Workshop & Symposium, which this year will take place in Los Angeles, in cooperation with the National Space Society (NSS), and we are excited to meet you there in person, after two years of online sessions.
Stay safe!
